1.234,56 and 1,234.56 need different rules.
A comma can separate thousands or decimals. Guessing from one value is unreliable: 1,234 means different things in different formats.
Choose the source convention
Select comma decimal for values such as 1.234,56, 120,00- or (120,00). Select dot decimal for 1,234.56 or -120.00. Amounts may have up to two decimal places; unsupported formats are rejected rather than rounded. Spaces, nonbreaking spaces and GBP/USD/EUR symbols are accepted around amounts.
Use a delimiter that preserves the value
If your decimal is a comma, export a semicolon-delimited CSV, or quote each amount containing commas. For example, the value “1.234,56” must remain one field. The tool rejects rows with the wrong number of columns.
Currency is a separate choice
European mode uses EUR. It does not convert currencies and cannot infer an exchange rate. Split multi-currency data into separate files. A normalized CSV is not a certified DATEV or accounting-system import: validate the receiving software’s schema separately.
